Carpets are renowned for not being environmentally friendly due to their high plastic content & latex backing. Our aim through 2019 is to look to increase the number of flooring options in our showroom which are environmentally friendly. However, we already stock a variety of options which are sustainably sourced / produced with some impressive environmental credentials…

Sisal, Seagrass, Coir, & Jute

These products are made from a variety of materials including grasses, wood pulp or flowering plants, therefore ensuring they are 100% biodegradable.  Sisal is one of the strongest plant fibres, standing up to footfall in high traffic areas such as staircases within the home. Our showroom is home to Crucial Trading, Alternative Flooring and Kersaint Cobb to name a few, each of these suppliers have a variety of stunning designs available.

Linoleum

Linoleum is making a big come back due to its environmental credentials. Manufacturer Forbo, have created their own version called Marmoleum.  This retro floor covering is made from raw materials which are abundantly available or rapidly renewable, in factories running on green electric. This PVC flooring is suited to both commercial and residential situations. There are a variety of fantastic designs in the range, be sure to take a look as this is a superb alternative for a kitchen or bathroom floor, or perhaps on a larger scale in a commercial environment.

Sustainably Sourced Wool

Wool is the only widely available carpet fibre not derived from oil and is recyclable! Wool, which is supplied to the carpet industry, is sustainable, renewable and biodegradable.  We also stock a Herdwick wool carpet which features a backing made from recycled plastic bottles, this means that over the course of a year, this manufacturer saves 20 tonnes of plastic from going to landfill.

Plant Fibre Carpet

We currently stock two different types of carpet made from plant fibre, one is Tencel and the other is Bamboo. Tencel is produced by environmentally responsible processes from sustainably sourced wood. It is a stunning fibre which can be professionally cleaned if necessary, it is bio degradable and naturally moth resistant. Bamboo carpet has to be seen to be believed, it is truly one of the softest carpets we have come across. Bamboo has a very fast growth, making it one of the worlds most sustainable products.

FSC Certified Wood

Last, but by no means least, is our hand finished wood. Benott is sourced from sustainably managed forests in Europe. They also support the Woodland Trust’s mission to plant trees and restore woodland, and thereby preserve our environment.

Bespoke wood flooring studio…

We are delighted to announce that our stunning new wood showroom is officially open!

We have partnered with Benott, who source the finest European Oak and hand finish each plank to specification. Providing a totally unique and bespoke product. Their range consists of a truly mesmerising solid wood parquet, alongside more contemporary engineered planks in modern tones.

A rug for every home…

We have seen a huge increase in the demand for rugs over the past year, many of our customers are choosing hard flooring with a cosy, or perhaps statement, rug to finish off the room. Therefore we have dramatically increased our rug offering including some simply stunning designs from brands such as Crucial Trading, Jacaranda, ITC & Louis De Poortere. Our Rug Studio is home to a wide selection of sizes and colour ways which are available to take away or order.

We also have a wide variety of customisable options where you can design your own bespoke rug or runner. Alternative Flooring & Crucial Trading provide some stunning carpets to inset within a binding of your choice. The Lodore Falls Hotel has just opened the doors to their latest venture, Falls Spa, a truly stunning building home to 14 suites and a state of the art spa.

Having worked closely with the Lake District Hotels group for the past few years we were delighted to be brought on board with this project. Within the Falls Spa we installed the bespoke Wilton carpet throughout the unique suites and communal areas. We also installed a seriously cosy Lano carpet in the entrance to the relaxation and treatment areas.

It is well worth a visit soon, for a festive afternoon tea or to indulge in a spa day to truly relax before the holiday season…

Our brand new Amtico Studio is now open…

After the devastating floods during storm Desmond which saw our showroom under water for several days we had to do a huge refurbishment, the only area which we didn’t re-vamp was the Amtico Studio as the flooring had stood up to the water so well.

However, a few years on & we have decided to give the Amtico Studio a well deserved upgrade! This has seen us purchase three new stands from Amtico which show off their entire range beautifully! We have also relocated the Studio to the front of the showroom so that the samples can be viewed in natural light. With a large meeting table in the centre of the room we can help you bring your interior concept together, with the help of a freshly ground coffee of course!

Alongside creating the most incredible handwoven stair runners, Roger Oates Design is also home to some stunning homewares. The range includes, sumptuous floor cushions, upholstered benches, fringed rugs & traditional hand held luggage.

We are delighted to stock several of these items which have proved popular with our lovely customers. If you invest in a Roger Oates runner, a matching, or even a contrasting, upholstered bench would create a stunning look. However, these homewares bring quality and luxury to homes with or without a runner! The flatweave cushions make a superb statement due to their size,  filled with Duck feathers to make them extra comfy!

As you know, we LOVE wool carpet, so when we were offered the opportunity to add the latest Harrow & Smith collection to our showroom, we couldn’t resist.

Designers from Whitemore & Thwaytes were tasked with creating a cosy, family friendly space with traditional style within High Cunsey. Flooring to compliment the light & airy colour scheme brought the concept together…

Nestled into the rolling hills where Beatrix Potter once wandered, High Cunsey Farm is a genuine Lake District retreat. Farmhouses are notoriously dark, lacking natural light due to their structure. Therefore when Whitemore & Thwaytes were brought in to create a concept for the project, light, was at the very heart of it. As a self-catering property practical, yet quality, carpet was required for longevity. When visiting our showroom with fabrics it soon became clear that Riviera was an ideal choice, using their Burford & Tetbury range in complimentary colours.

Today, as you walk through High Cunsey you notice how the rooms are flooded with natural light creating a fresh atmosphere whilst retaining all of its character. The light, yet practical carpets bounce the natural light up to the stunning colours of the furnishings and fittings.

VETRO TILES

We are thrilled to add the stunning Vetro tile range to our offering in the showroom. Part of the Havwoods International Group, Vetro was created to shake up the porcelain market, drawing on 40 years of experience in the flooring & interiors industry and working closely with designers, architects and specifiers to create a range of flooring that meets the markets needs.

The range comprises of 75 stunning products including ceramic, stone, wood effect and an incredible marble. We have samples of the entire range for you to view in the showroom or to take away and try at home. We are also able to order full size samples to see the full effect of how the tiles would look on either your wall or floor.

Just a stone’s throw away from our showroom is the captivating Lake District, a UNESCO World Heritage site, home to breath taking scenery, endless activities and a particular breed of hardy sheep!

Herdwick sheep, locally known as Herdy, spend their lives in the fells foraging for food without much supplement from additional feed. This lifestyle moulds a resilient, characterful sheep, quite similar to the features of its wool!  This hard wearing coat also protects them from the wild unpredictable weather we experience here in Cumbria. Herdwick wool has been used in a variety of ways over the years, more recently, it has really started making a name for itself in the world of carpets.

We are therefore thrilled to have a range of locally sourced 100% Herdwick wool carpet taking pride of place in our showroom. Brockway’s Lakeland Herdwick range is ideal for any house. The hard wearing wool makes it resilient to the tests which we put our homes under each day whilst being surprisingly soft underfoot.

We are proud to be supporting our local farmers aiming to further improve the commercial value of Herdwick wool for generations to come.

The full Lakeland Herdwick range is available to view in our showroom with samples available to take away. The range includes 17 colour ways including plain, stripe and a two tone tweed.
