Our History

Established by brothers Paul & Karl Greenall in 1990, Kendal Quality Carpets is the culmination of 30 years experience.

We have worked for an extensive list of clients from a large range backgrounds and disciplines. Our client base has a included a number of the large local construction firms to working on NHS trust work, SLDC, local schools and parish church projects. Of course our main area of focus is our domestic client base and we are proud of our showroom that offers over 2000 square feet of the latest carpet and flooring displays. In addition our Amtico studio offers samples from the entire range allowing you to make accurate decisions in colour matching your choice of floor covering with soft furnishings.

Our History

Timeline

The Beginning

KQC started out in 1990 as a family run furniture business based in Morecambe by brothers Paul and Karl Greenall. After 12 months of trading a second retail unit in Morecambe was opened, with a third retail unit following 12 months later.

Move to Kendal

In 1994 the business branched out to Kendal, to Unit 7 on Dockray Hall Industrial Estate. This gave the brothers the platform to build the business to as it is known by many today.

Venture Into Carpets

In 1996 the venture into becoming a carpet and flooring specialist began, with little knowledge of the carpet industry the brothers began to learn and gain experience in this sector. Within the next 4 years the brothers persevered and laid the foundations to what they would become renowned for, which is great service, finishing touches, professionalism and going the extra mile for their customers. They aspired to be as good as, and if not better than there competitors.

Innovators

By 2000 KQC prided itself on becoming innovators of service and aftercare for their customers, also realising the need for investment in well trained carpet fitters to execute this high-level of service. This led into expanding the business by acquiring the unit which they call home today, with a new state of the art showroom. Customer networks changed from purely retail based to power stations, schools, offices and shopping centres. By 2006 KQC became the biggest flooring contractor within a 50 mile radius.

30 Years of KQC

KQC prides itself on drawing from the 30 years of retail experience, learning from small mistakes, the realisation you can’t stand still in business or rest on your laurels. This has seen the brothers lay the foundations for the next 5-10 years, with the involvement of their sons.

New Knutsford Showroom

2023 saw the opening of our brand new showroom in Knutsford. Our aim was to create a studio for flooring inspiration and design, where you can feel at ease. With our extensive knowledge and experience within the flooring industry, having been established for over 30 years in the Lake District, we felt it was necessary to try something different!!
